Waiting For A Blog To Make Money
It’s one of the hardest things to do in my life. Waiting for a blog to start making money can be maddening. I’m not a patient guy as it is, but in my experience only a few blogs will start making money almost immediately. Usually there is a lot of time to wait and a lot of effort to put in.
Building links, spreading your blogs footprint across social media sites, and getting a regular following of readers (or at least make that site readily discoverable for new readers) is just the tip of the iceberg.
And, heck, not all blogs and sites WILL make money. Ain’t that a bitch? Sometimes what you thought was a great idea that would be in high demand or interesting just doesn’t translate over to the millions and millions of cyber-searchers around the globe.
Is Your New Blog Gonna’ Make Money, Or What?
Knowing when to make the call of a “worthy blog” or a “waste blog” is a hard and sensitive position. Felicia talked about this sometime ago and at the time I read it I really didn’t have enough going on to understand. BFD here was brand new. I was fumbling around with blogger.com sites. Other sites that I had created quickly became a bore or a chore (which aren’t a great combination for blogging!). Knowing if a blog is a dud will eventually reveal its knowledge.
But that’s the hardest part for me. I hate putting work into a site that isn’t doing well and continuously asking myself, “is this gonna work, is this gonna pay dividends”. Even if I like writing on the site, I still stress over its performance.
Building New Blogs to Make Money With Adsense
I started a blog about a month ago in the smart phone app arena. It did pretty well that first month, I think, for being brand new. It brought in about $11 from Adsense and I like to write on it. So far this month, though, things have swung downhill a bit, as it is only sitting at $2.50 for thru the first week of 2012. I know, I know, some of you will say that “it’s right on track to at least match last month”. Sure, I guess it is. We’ll see how the rest of the month plays out.
Sticking With It, Fighting the Patience the Monster
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: My aim here is to develop a residual income through blogging and writing online and then being a work at home dad/husband once I retire from the Army in the coming half-decade or so.
I stress over it. I NEED TO KNOW! Lol. My sites have to work or I’ll be forced to leave the grind and enter the another grind. Not gonna’ happen. The worst thing, though, will be that I had failed.
That’s just not gonna’ happen. I’ll keep writing here on BFD, even though it’s pretty much dead weight, and developing my other sites and building new ones to see if they work. Some things are looking up right now…others aren’t we’ll see. I’ll just use BFD to vent and pass on anything I learn that might be of some knowledge.
Stick with it, ya’ll! The video I’ve included here is one of “blogging frustration” video. Speaking of which, it just might be time to do another crazed rant!

Ken, man, it is really frustrating. I’ve been at it for four months, and I’ve taken in $3.41.
My content is very strong, and all evergreen. I still know that once I can build up my audience, the cash will start rolling in. But for now, I feel like I’m talking and talking and talking, but no one’s listening.
Hang in there.

Mark,
I just checked out your blog again. Your content is tight and well written…and you’re right-really EVERGREEN. It’ll come dude. Thanks for reading. Have you checked out nojobformom.com? Felicia is the shizzle! You’d like her stuff a lot.
Ken (don’t stop reading here though, lol!)
Love the mini-rant. Blogging is frustrating at times. Currently I’m concentrating on authority Amazon affiliate blogs, and I swear there are some days you have to wonder if it is all worth it. But it is. The hard part is the waiting while you spend so much time adding content, tweaking content and getting the word out. Then one day, when you are about to throw in the towel, it happens. Visitors from nowhere begin to show up and click on ads or tell their friends. Good content, decent SEO and time…..lots and lots of time..
Great blog Ken. I like your attitude and honesty.
Ken,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, I keep telling myself to be patient, grow the blog and keep the faith by following seasoned vets like yourself. I’ve stopped by Freelancer Today a couple of times and really like it.
