Dad Blog 101
This is a dad blog and always will be. It’s about my quest to make money online and support my family here and not at an office via a commute. It’s about my family.
That being said, this past Thanksgiving holiday was very tumultuous and eye-opening for me. It hurt and angered me more than I ever have been. If you come by often, then you’ve probably noticed the gap in blog posts which would have been pretty
easy to detect seeing as I was posting several times a week and then stopped.
But it taught me a couple of things:
My true motivation is not my love for money, blogging, marketing, advertisements, or the internet. It is my family unit. While that family unit was in turmoil I couldn’t stand to blog. Is that turmoil over? No. The insanity of that period is receding though, and finally allowing me to focus on things other than the family
Would I be able to blog here or on any of my other blogs if I didn’t have my family anymore? I don’t know. I’d still write, but it would be more therapeutic and probably on platforms like HubPages and InfoBarrel where I didn’t have to worry about anything except writing.
The most important thing that this period in my life has taught me is this: (Well, it didn’t teach me this-it just reaffirmed it.) Once you’re married and have kids then no passion, hobbie or decision you make is about you. It’s about the prospect of a future. It’s about the security of that future and how you want to live that future.
I’ve often said that I want to travel the country with my wife in an RV and an internet connection and just collect in PayPal and EFT when I retire from the Army in a few years. I’m not sure if that will happen anymore. Although I think that it could still work out that way, the last week has thrown a lot of that to chance and effort.
But, I said I’d be around for a while. I plan on it still. You’ve probably noticed that this post has no purpose but to get back into the habit of blogging or writing about something. Sorry if you’re disappointed with the content-this one was about me. Not you. Peace.

Glad to see you posting again. Good luck with the turmoil in your life, and keep your eye on your statement that it is about you not the readers.
I hope you continue to post, I have already learned a lot from you as I start the same journey as you and I hope to learn more.
Someone asked me why I wanted to become a Freelance writer. Evidently, my reply wasn’t quite clear because they assumed I wanted the life style. That’s not it, at all. Like you, my desire to earn an income from home is to help pay off debt before my husband fully retires in a couple of years. I don’t want him to worry about having to take on another job, even part-time. I’d rather it be his choice, not his only hope.
I’ve tried this whole working from home thing several times over the past few years, but there were always interferences of some sort. A divided focus never gets anything accomplished. There’s a verse in the Bible that says, “An unstable man (woman) is divided in all his (her) ways.” That’s the absolute truth.
Only until this past month, has my goal for becoming a full time freelance writer being realized. I am able to think more clearly and designate a specific block of time working on my goal.
On another note, I’ve always said I wanted to travel the country much the same way as you dream. We retired from the Air Force, have our 5th wheel, and are still waiting for that same vision. I believe you will get there, just as I believe I will.

Cesar,
Thanks for the encouragement and for reading! Glad to hear that I have helped someone because so many other bloggers have helped me. That ONE post was about me. Everything else is about the readers. LOL! Thanks again, man.
Ken
That’s what I like about you, Ken. You keep things real.
I’m hoping things work out favorably.
